When is your ranch/animal mentioned on the web?

by Jaymie Feldmann | Mar 29, 2011

Have you ever wondered what other people are saying about you, your ranch, or your longhorns?  Most of you are probably saying “Heck yes” but only know of the “brute force" solution.

Brute Force

Go to your favorite search engine and type in the search terms.  Next you will need to browse through the pages of results and see if you pop up in the list.  As you know content on the web changes daily so you would need to make this a daily task in order to keep up with the ever changing content.

A Better Way

Google has a solution that does this automatically.  It is called Google AlertsGoogle Alerts allows you to search for specific terms and it notifies you when new pages are found that match the terms.  For example, we have an alert set up for [“hired hand” software]

Why would you use this?

  1. To know what other people are saying about your ranch and animals.
  2. If someone mentions one of your animals or your ranch, ask them to link directly to your website or your animal on your website.  Remember those inbound links help with SEO.
  3. Keep up to date with what is going on in the industry.

Here are some additional search tips you can use when you set up your alerts.
