From the Pasture with Hired Hand, Episode 11: Branding. In ​this episode, we talked with Nathan Jones from Wild Serenade Ranch who raises Registered Texas Longhorns and Quarter Horses in Indiana. Along with raising Longhorns and Horses, Nathan is a full-time farrier, specializing in shoeing performance horses and is also an NRHA Non-Pro Rider. With all of his knowledge in both industries, he has developed many skills, one of them being branding. Your brand is your ​cow's identification and mark of ranch ownership. ​In some areas, branding can be necessary to help identify and certify animals being sold. ​Longhorns hold a long tradition of branding and we loved hearing about the work that goes into ​the process from Nathan.
